An Atlantic Career
An employer of choice committed to developing talent
We value ourselves as a highly sought-after employer in Trinidad and Tobago who offers a competitive remuneration and benefit package and a work environment that promotes personal and professional growth.
As the fifth largest exporter of LNG and now running the world’s largest single liquefaction facility in operation, Atlantic is an excellent proving ground for persons with the ambition to be at the top of their game in the various technical disciplines in process plant operations and the international energy sector, as well as the various sub-disciplines related to finance and administration; health, safety, security and environment; community relations and stakeholder relationship management. Atlantic’s unique relationship with its shareholders creates an environment that is always striving for world-class performance at the company level and at the level of each employee.
Leadership in safety
Atlantic’s commitment to excellence in our maintenance of safe operations of our facility and our people began on the first day of the construction of Train 1. We wanted the Atlantic project to be known as one of the safest in the country and the world – a leader and record-breaker in all safety statistics, wherever possible. Over the decade of construction of our Trains, we achieved a number of safety records, including our most recent in 2005, with 14.7 million hours worked on the Train 4 construction without a lost time injury.
We wish to continue this record-breaking safety performance throughout our operation of a LNG facility which now has four Trains. We work assiduously to develop an organizational culture where employees reflexively assess everything they do at work and mitigate potential risks to life, limb and Atlantic’s business. We believe that Atlantic’s culture, through our employees, can have impact on the wider Trinidad and Tobago society and help increase national awareness of safety consciousness as a lifestyle.
Our People – our greatest resource
We are as mindful about the sustainability of our enterprise, its contribution to the national economy and its impact on the environment as we are about the people who make it all happen – our employees. We believe in doing all we can to ensure that every single talent that we employ is helped by Atlantic to attain the fullest potential possible.
The value of our people is only partly in their present capacity; it is mostly in their future capacity and how this can help Atlantic years hence to continue to realize its objectives to build value for its stakeholders and shareholders. How we build the capacity of our people and align it to evolving business objectives and strategies helps us make the Atlantic experience engrossing and stimulating. It appears that the people who enjoy working at Atlantic are committed to overcoming challenges in the personal pursuit of ever-improving professional performance and development.
A Performance-focussed culture
Daily updates on LNG production. Company-wide monitoring of safety practices in the plant and administrative offices. Quarterly reviews of every department in the company and its contribution to the corporate objectives. Atlantic’s culture is one focused on the delivery of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that the Management Team and the Shareholders agree upon as relevant to evaluating actual business performance against the expectations and business targets of the shareholders.
This culture is further embedded through individual Performance Contracts devised annually between Managers/supervisors and their direct reports. Performance Contracts detail expected task and project delivery and are evaluated quarterly to help determine progress and implement adjustments and risk mitigation measures. Year-end incentives are linked to successful task and project delivery throughout the Performance Contract year.
What can you expect?
You can expect a company that challenges itself and its people in all areas to perform at the level of some of the most efficient and profitable companies in the world.
You can expect a company that enables its people to perform at this high level either through state-of-the-art technology or by using the latest knowledge in all disciplines, including the disciplines of performance management and capability development.
You can expect a company that is committed to safety in even its most subtle nuances: the health and wellness of our employees: work-life balance conversations, lectures and programmes, company hikes and even fitness centres in Point Fortin and Port of Spain.
