Merissa Aguilleira

Merissa is a successful right handed middle-order batswoman and wicketkeeper. She found her success in 2005, when she became a member of the Trinidad and Tobago senior cricket team, and within two years, she was appointed captain of the national side. Merissa went on to join the West Indies’ women’s team in 2008, and one year later in 2009, she was named captain. The Moruga-born cricketer has had tremendous success during her career and during her captaincy, was named as one of the most inspirational captains in the world. She was a member of the victorious West Indies women’s team that won the ICC World Twenty20 championship in 2016.

Merissa is deeply committed to her community of Moruga and has partnered with Atlantic on an annual book-drive programme to lend support to students in the region.
