Beach Camp Boys take the double – Under 12 and Under 15 in Atlantic Primary School Football

The boys of Beach Camp Community Primary made history today (November 20) at the Under 12 finals of the Atlantic National Primary Schools Football League at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, when they toppled Enterprise Government 4-3 in a nail-biting finish.

This victory came a few hours after Beach Camp’s conquest earlier this morning, when their Under 15 team toppled Montgomery Government in the Under 15 finals.

It was the first time in the history of the Atlantic National Primary Schools Football League that both boys’ titles were claimed by one school in the same year.

In the fourth minute of play in the Under 12 final, skipper Supreme Outar put Enterprise Government on the board, but Beach Camp soon answered with an equalizer by Andel Gabriel followed by another bullet into the net by to bring the score to 2-1.

This proved no deterrent for Enterprise Government as they continued to fight for ball possession and take shots with Outar taking another shot that only narrowly missed the net.

To second half started with a bang as Donovan Drayton scored a beautiful goal for Beach Camp, bringing the score up to 3-1. After numerous attempts to augment their score, Beach Camp finally reached their breakthrough with a goal from none other than Drayton who made their goal count to four. But Enterprise Government could not be discouraged as Israel Outar shot one into the net for his team to bring the score to 4-2.

With mere seconds to spare, Enterprise Government’s Oncil Immanuel scored in a final attempt to keep his team’s hopes alive, but their opponents could not be caught. With the sounding of the final whistle, Beach Camp Primary became champions once more.

Defending champions Scarborough R.C. Primary brought the Girls Under-15 trophy back home to Tobago for the third straight year as they defeated Maloney Government Primary School 4-1 in the 40-minute final match of the Atlantic National Primary Schools Football League at the Hasely Crawford Stadium today (November 20).

The defending champs got on the scorecard early with a goal from a penalty kick by captain Kimiah Musgrave within the first few minutes of play time. Musgrave attempted to add another against Maloney but her effort was saved by goalkeeper Kertisha Joseph. Assisting Joseph against Scarborough’s relentless offence was Judith Paul with consistent defence throughout the game.

Kyla Cooper added another one to Scarborough’s score bringing the score to 2-0. With a penalty kick from Musgrave, Scarborough R.C. then brought the score up to 3-0, completing their domination of the first half of the game.

The second half of the match opened with a handball by Scarborough R.C. which afforded Maloney the chance to get on the scoreboard. Akilah Cooper successfully executed the penalty kick and brought the score to 3-1, sending her Maloney schoolmates and supporters into an uproar in the stands.

Jada Flores, one of the youngest players for Maloney, made a commendable attempt to score to bolster her team’s scorecard but this was saved by Scarborough goalkeeper Keneisha Taylor.

Though down by two nearing the end of regulation time, students and teachers of Maloney kept their team’s energy high with their chanting and a rhythm section that refused to wane. But Scarborough sought to silence them once more as Musgrave recorded her third goal of the game and released a bullet into the net to win the match 4-1 and capture the title once again for the Tobago primary school.
